Sammy G's  real name is Sam Gomm but he was christened “Sammy G” by Scottish Ian the bandleader of “Hank McGregor & The Cosmic Cowboys”. They were the first professional band Sammy G  joined after he left school in Mid Wales, UK back in 1992. Sammy G was the drummer and also sang as well.

After a few years as a “Cosmic Cowboy” Sammy G decided to move on and play drums and sing again with another UK group called “Joe Le Taxi” this time performing Zydeco music. Sammy G's  father Ian Gomm also played guitar in the band, he was a member of the well known 70’s group “Brinsley Schwarz” which also included Nick Lowe as member. It was a great experience for me to play with my dad!

In 1998 Sammy G put my drumsticks to one side and concentrated on what he really wanted to be, the lead singer of his own band. Sam formed the “The Sammy G Band” with some of my musician friends and we played all over Wales playing festivals, clubs and pubs.

Sammy G decided in 2000 to go solo and perform with just my voice, acoustic guitar and a selection of my favorite songs including some new Sammy G compositions. Sammy G gigged all over Mid Wales then the South of England playing in London, Norwich and Brighton. Sam  then traveled to Europe and performed in Denmark and Portugal.

Sammy G moved to Holland in 2001 and played my first Dutch gig in Maguire’s Irish Bar, Alkmaar. This also led to my appearance at the Atlantis Club in Alkmaar and it was at this gig that he was approached by Tate de Jong label manager of the Netherlands record label AG Music. He suggested that Sam recorded my first single “If I Ever”, which was my own composition, at AG Music’s recording studio just outside Alkmaar.

The next year 2002 saw Sammy G returning back to the mountains of Mid Wales to concentrate on writing and performing more new songs.

In 2004 Sammy G relocated once again to Holland to settle in Nijmegen with my Dutch girlfriend. This time performing in the music scene around the Nijmegen region.

In  the summer of 2005 Sam had recorded his first solo CD for AG Music, Alkmaar.
 

2006 has already proven to be busy for Sammy G. He has toured Holland playing in Harrlem, Zwalle, Ijmuiden, Arnhem, Alkmaar, Eindhoven, Tilburg and many more! currently Sam and is Dutch band have been making progress and playing in places like Lindenberg in Nijmegen and the Witte Theatre in Ijmuiden. In March Sammy G will be returning to the UK for a small tour which coincides with the release of his long awaited debut EP "You didn't Listen" with another two tracks including the title track.

The style of music I like to play and write is soft rock, pop and blues.

I also perform the music of bands like: The Beatles, The Stereophonics, Radiohead, Coldplay, David Gray and many more songs from the 60’s through to the 90’s.

I am available for gigs anywhere in Holland and Europe.
